Vaccine Mandate FAQs – Capital One Arena

Effective January 15, in compliance with the District of Columbia’s Vax DC policy, all guests ages 12 years and older are required to show proof of vaccination to enter Capital One Arena.

Guests aged 12 and older must provide proof of having received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by January 15, 2022 to enter. For those taking a two-dose vaccine, Pfizer or Moderna, proof of a second dose will be required for entry beginning February 15, 2022.  
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What are acceptable forms of proof of COVID-19 vaccination status?
A: For proof of vaccination, patrons ages 12 years and older must provide ONE of the following when entering Capital One Arena:
  • CLEAR Health Pass digital vaccination pass 
  • A CDC issued vaccination card (original, photocopy, or digital copy/photo) along with photo ID for guests ages 18 years or older.   
  • Record of immunization from a healthcare provider or public health authority along with photo ID for guests ages 18 years or older.   
Capital One Arena recommends using the CLEAR Health Pass App for quick and easy verification upon arrival at Capital One Arena.
Q: I have a medical or religious exemption. Will I still be able to attend games at Capital One Arena?
A: Guests that are medically exempt from receiving the vaccine, or are unable to receive the COVID-19 vaccine out of a sincerely held religious belief will be permitted to enter the arena providing the following requirements are met: 
  • Guests must provide documentation of medical or religious exemptions from the COVID-19 vaccine, such as a note from a medical provider, along with a photo ID.  
  • Along with supporting documentation for the exemption, all unvaccinated guests must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result within 24 hours of gametime. COVID-19 rapid testing will be available for a fee at Capital One Arena at the Administrative Entrance located on 7th street near the intersection of 7th and G streets beginning 2 hours prior to gametime, up until 1 hour after the game has begun.
Guests with documented proof of the following will also be exempt from providing proof of vaccination: 
  • Guests that have been given monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma for post-exposure prophylaxis within the past 30 days.  
  • Guests that have been treated for COVID-19 with monoclonal antibodies or convalescent plasma within the last 90 days.  
  • Guests that have had a diagnosis of MIS-C or MIS-A (Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome-in Children or Adults respectively) in the past 90 days 
Please note that all guests with a valid exemption MUST proceed directly to the Capital One Arena Box Office doors on F Street to enter.  Entry with a valid exemption will not be granted at any other entrance.   
Q: Do guests under the age of 12 need to show proof of vaccination?
A: No. Children under the age of 12 are not required to show proof of vaccination at this time.

Q: What is the protocol for children under the age of 12 seated in player-proximate ticket locations?
A: Per NBA protocols, guests seated within 15 feet of the court and/or player benches must provide either proof of vaccination OR proof of a negative COVID test* sampled within 2 days of the game (PCR test) or the day of the game (rapid test).*At-home tests are not accepted.

If seated in a player-proximate ticket location, please follow the guidance below to determine the requirements for children in accordance with NBA and DC mandates.

Age 12 years and older: proof of vaccination required.
Age 5-11 years: proof of vaccination OR proof of negative COVID test* required.
Age 2-4 years: proof of negative COVID test* required.
Under age 2 years: no requirements.
*At-home tests are not accepted.

Q. Do I have to wear my mask if I am vaccinated? 
A. Yes. The District of Columbia has mandated face masks while indoors for everyone over the age of two (2) and face masks will be required for all guests for the entirety of the event, including while seated in the arena in the ticket holder's assigned seat. Face masks must cover the guest’s nose and mouth, and cannot be a gaiter, open-chin triangle handkerchief/bandana, costume mask, mesh material, or a covering with an exhalation valve or holes.
